Hi my fellow crafters! Natasha here to share a layout I had created a little while back. The little boy in the photo is my lil' man about eight years ago. Check out those cheeks!! (Don't tell him I said that... he gets embarrassed. LOL)

The Brick Wall Panel is manufactured by The Dusty Attic. I cut it apart, inked it with Glimmer Mist and distressed it using Distress embossing powder.

A mix of Prima flowers, Tim Holtz Foliage and flower brads...

The 'eyelet border' was created using a Fiskars punch and a whole lot of eyelets!

The title is made up of Grungeboard letters that were inked and painted. The heart is actually a cute little chipboard element. I added eyelets and Distress embossing powder to the large cog to grunge it up a bit. I am most definitely a chipboard fanatic and I have all of my chippies on a Clip it Up Jumbo. It is completely full! That is why I added an Upper Tier! LOL!

The edges of the photos and the corrugated board were dry-brushed with white acrylic paint.

I love having plenty of layers on my layouts! :o)

'Beautiful' Mirror

Hello fellow crafters!! Natasha here with a mirror I had altered a little while back.

The actual wooden mirror was purchased at Ikea for $2.99. I bought a bunch of them because the wooden surface is perfect for altering. And because they were inexpensive too!!

The entire surface of the mirror was covered with torn pieces of The Crafty Chronicle and adhered with Beacon's Fast Finish Decoupage. Then I added a layer of gesso and spritzed on several colors of Smooch Spritz. For a simple tutorial, click HERE.

I also applied ceramic stucco to random areas of the mirror for added texture. Love this stuff!

The distressed dots were embossed using white embossing powder by Clearsnap.

This cluster is made up of mulberry flowers, satin flowers, cut flowers from Donna Salazar's Vintage Gears paper and Prima trinkets and bling.

The chipboard wire dress form and mini corner are manufactured by The Dusty Attic. I created the dress from paper, tulle and trim. I also added eyelets, ribbon, pearls, an antique trinket and Fairy Dust Glitter to further embellish the dress.

Here is a peek at the bottom of the dress form. I randomly painted it and inked it with Leather Mix'd Media Inx. These Inx come in such gorgeous colors!

The 'Beautiful' chippie was painted with acrylic paint and adhered using a spray adhesive to avoid glue seeping out from behind this delicate piece.

Hi everyone! Natasha here with a special layout to share. For this layout I used AMAZING papers by Pion Design. I ADORE Pion Design papers! Pure elegance and beauty! (Just a minute... wiping up the drool.)

The photo is of my beautiful friend, Mistra. We have become very close over the past year and every day I continue to be surprised at how alike (and dorky) we are. She is my twin, although I am still working on my Aussie accent LOL.

The beautiful circular frame around my layout is part of the Floral Frame Set (DA0576) by The Dusty Attic. I inked the frame in several different colors and added Fairy Dust Glitter to the flowers.

To achieve this layered look with flowers, I adhered the flowers with different types of adhesives such as Helmar Zapdots, 450 Quick Dry and Liquid Scrap Dots.

The large flower you see here is hand-made. You can find the tutorial for my Cabbage Rose HERE. I used Donna Salazar's Rose Creations dies and assembled the flower with my favorite adhesive... Helmar 450 Quick Dry.

Here I layered a paper strip cut from one of the Pion Design papers, vintage lace and seam binding.

So very true... sniffle. :o)

The title is made from Dusty Attic's Typewriter Font Alphabet Set (DA0143). I used Zapdots (cut in half) to adhere these letters to my layout.

I tend to add a lot of hand-stitching to my layouts. I love the added texture it gives.

I adhered this transparent butterfly using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. Can you see the adhesive? Nope!! This amazing products adds dimension but is 'discreet'.

'Live In Color' Gatefold Double Layout

Hello everyone! Natasha here with a special layout I made as a tribute to my Dusty Attic sisters. There are 17 of us and I had to somehow fit us all onto one layout! So I decided to create a gatefold double layout.

This is the cover (outside) of my layout. It is made from the backside of corrugated board. (You will see the corrugated side on the inside.)

I used fiber paste to create a brick pattern and added color with spray ink.

The chipboard flourish is manufactured by The Dusty Attic. The large flower in the corner was hand-made using the Rose Creations dies by Spellbinders. (A tutorial will be posted shortly!)

The grass border and nameplate are also chipboard elements that were painted and inked. I love the dimension chipboard adds to any project.

This is the inside of my layout. Look at all of those photos! LOL! The papers I used are by Susiebee Studios.

I used numerous punches to create decorative borders throughout the layout. The large blue flower was cut from one of the cute papers.

The house was also cut from the Susiebee Studios papers. I adhered it to my layout using Zapdots for added dimension.

The sections of my layout were joined with hemp cord laced through eyelets.

The title letters were fussy cut and the borders were hand-stitched to help them stand out.

The distressed paper in the background was torn from Donna Salazar's Crafty Chronicle.

'Dreamer' Journal

Hi everyone! Natasha here with a journal I created using Donna Salazar's Antiquities Collection. This is the first journal I have ever created and I had so much fun making it!

Let me show you all of the yummy products I used!

This flower was created using Donna Salazar's Rose Creations dies. I will be posting a tutorial soon so keep an eye out! :o)

I created the holes to bind the book using the Zutter Bind-it-All. I threaded hemp cord through the holes to bind my journal together.

How awesome is this cluster of sprockets?! The chipboard Nestaboard Sprightly Sprockets are manufactured by Want2Scrap and they coordinate perfectly with Donna's Sprightly Sprockets Dies. I then added the Nestabling that also coordinates perfectly! I layered the sprockets on top of each other using foam squares for added dimension.

The distressed paper around the edges of the corrugated board comes from The Crafty Chronicle.

This gorgeous ornate element is a Design Adhesive by Clearsnap. You just peel and stick the adhesive and add glitter or embossing powder. I used Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx embossing powder to create this beautiful texture.

The background is made of Corrugated Board by Zutter. I added a touch of color using Mix'd Media Inx and embossing powder in the color Chiffon.

The 'dreamer' chippie is manufactured by The Dusty Attic. I have a huge collection of these fabulous chippies that I store on my Clip It Up Main Base and Upper Tier. It is the perfect organizational solution for my chippie collection.

I created this effect on the inside of both the front and back cover by adhering torn pieces of The Crafty Chronicle and Antiquities papers.

My journal is divided into three sections and each section has its own pocket to store things.

Each pocket is made from Artistic Papers. These heavy weight papers are amazing! They are perfect to use with mediums, inks, paints... anything! I inked them with Smooch Spritz to create this look. The pockets were then adhered to corrugated board.

The quotes are cut from The Crafty Chronicle. This newsletter has so many uses and is one of my favorite products! I punched a border along the top of the pocket and hand-stitched the edges.

To add a little more texture, I stamped the corner with embossing ink and applied embossing powder.

The inside journal pages are made from cardstock and the edges were punched with a variety of different border punches.

The back of each pocket divider was altered with white opaque flakes and colored with Smooch Spritz.

The remaining dividers were altered and decorated in the same manner as the first.

The corners of the dividers (and the cover) are embellished with Zutter Rivets. I used Donna's Creative Page Tabs dies to cut tabs for each section.

Simply Amazing Christmas Ornaments!!!

Hey Everyone!

It’s Tina here to share some ideas with you! I am sure everyone is heavy into the Christmas preparations! I know we are here! Don’t you just love this time of year???

Today I wanted to stop by for a minute to share a few homemade Christmas ornaments with you. These are all very simple to make and not very time consuming at all! This time of year we really don’t have a lot of extra time on our hands for crafting! That’s why I decided to take a few minutes here and there to do just that! Create!! Here are a few of the things I have been making!

Glitter Snowflake

This first decoration was created in about 5 minutes! Seriously!! Here is how I made it, step by step…

1. Using Spellbinders ™ S5-059 Ironwork Motifs, I cut and embossed the snowflake shape using my Grand Calibur®. I then sprayed it using Helmar Velum Adhesive and sprinkled it with blue glitter. To seal the glitter, I used Glossy Accents.

2. Next, I cut and embossed one of the smaller motifs from the same Spellbinders set. I sprayed with the Helmar adhesive again and this time sprinkled with a copper glitter. Sealed with Glossy accents. This takes a while to dry, so you can set them aside and come back later! J

3. Adhere these 2 pieces together. Weave a small ribbon thru the larger diecut and tie in a bow. Adhere 2 small blooms and you are FINISHED! Yes! I said FINISHED!! Easy Peasy! And FAST!

Tips:

You can cut and emboss both of the above mentioned pieces at the same time, spray with adhesive at the same time, and then glitter. This will save time!!

I usually make my own flowers and blooms, but seeing the LARGE amount of them hanging on my Floor Model Clip it Up, I absolutely MADE myself use some! This helps make the project just a little bit quicker too!

To make this ornament a bit more sturdy, cut a thin piece of cereal board using the same die template and adhere the ornament to it! Yes, the dies will cut it and it helps to strengthen your project!

Red and Gold Blossom

This decoration uses more Spellbinders die templates and some embossing powder! Not to mention, more blooms from my Floor Model Clip It Up! I still like my hand made ones better using my Spellbinders die templates, but using some of my HUGE collection helps with time AND makes me feel like I’m using some of my stash! J Here’s the how-to!!

1. Stamp LG flower stamp from Unity’s Blossom Stackers onto cream cardstock using Watermark ink. Sprinkle with bronze embossing powder. Heat using a heat gun to set. Cut and emboss using the matching die template from Spellbinders. (S5-072 Blossom Tags and Accents).

2. Add circle of silver Nestabling from Want2Scrap.

3. Cut/emboss script patterned paper using S4-114 Standard Circles LG. Ink edges and adhere to center of image cut in step one. Add circle of brown Nestabling from Want2Scrap

4. Using the largest leaf stamp, follow the same process that we did in step one. (stamp, emboss, diecut) Adhere to ornament using foam squares.

5. Adhere 2 leaves, one red flower and 2 small light yellow flowers. Add red bow.

6. Using red stickles from Ranger, add small dots of red glitter where desired.

7. Punch hole and tie twine.

Finished! This one takes a little more time, but not much!! It’s still very simple! If you wanted to make it even faster, omit the heat embossing step. It will lose some of its shine, but will still be very pretty!

Memory Box

Hi again! Natasha here with another project to share with you. Do you like to save memorabilia from special events or meaningful moments? I know I do! I have saved all of the ticket stubs from movies that my husband and I have seen together since the day we met. I'm mushy like that LOL. I also have letters that he had written to me as well as other special items that he had given to me. Until today, I had all of these items in a shoe box. Really special, huh? LOL. So I decided to create a memory box that I could use to keep all of these 'memories' in.

I purchased a plain wooden box from my local craft store. I removed the hinges and brushed the entire box with white acrylic paint. I made sure to leave areas of the natural wood peeking out. After the paint dried, I applied my inks and mediums. Once the surface was dry, it was time to embellish!

For the lid of the box, I used Donna Salazar's Antiquities Collection and The Crafty Chronicle. The background is covered with corrugated board that was distressed and painted white. I also used a combination of several Helmar products to create the lid of my memory box: 450 Quick Dry, Zapdots, V2 Vellum Adhesive and Quick-Fix Adhesive Runner.

The inside was also covered with corrugated board and Donna's Artistic Papers inked with Smooch Spritz. I distressed the edges of the paper by tearing them, and I added hand-stitching for texture.

I even decorated the inside of the lid!

This blingy and grungy embellishment is made up of die cuts from the Sprightly Sprockets dies by Spellbinders and coordinating chipboard and bling by Want2Scrap. I layered the sprockets and adhered them using Zapdots to create a dimensional embellishment.

I couldn't forget my eyelets!

Love using a Dymo label maker for simple sentiments.

All of the beautiful chipboard elements on the lid of the box, including this chicken wire, are manufactured by The Dusty Attic.

Now for my favorite part of my memory box… the outside texture!! I had so much fun with this!

Ornate Shadow Box Frame

Hello again fellow crafters! Natasha here with a shadow box frame I created for my daughter.

This frame is manufactured by The Dusty Attic. It comes in pieces and must be assembled, but it only takes a few minutes to put together.

First I covered the entire frame with gesso to create a surface that will accept mediums and inks easily. Allow the gesso to dry thoroughly.

To add texture to my frame, I randomly applied ceramic stucco and glass beads gel to the front surface.

Then I misted the frame using two different colors. At this point my hands were covered in gesso, ink and stucco, but getting messy is the fun part! Once the frame is dry, it’s time to decorate it!!

I adorned the corners of the frame with mulberry and satin flowers, chipboard vines and ornate chipboard corners.

The inside of the frame was decorated with lace, and the photo was adhered using Helmar Zapdots for dimension.

Here is a close-up of the amazing texture the stucco and gel adds to my frame. (Plus, I had to sneak in a few eyelets too! LOL)

I had so much fun creating this frame! I’ll be back next week to share another project.

Vintage Desk Organizer

Hi everyone!! Natasha here to share a desk organizer I created for my craft studio. I ADORE the Antiquities Collection by Donna Salazar Designs, so most of the pieces I have created for my studio have been made with this collection.

The dividers of the desk organizer and the drawers were covered with gorgeous papers from this collection. I added vintage lace to further decorate my organizer. After adhering the papers to my project, I dry-brushed white acrylic paint onto the surface and misted it with a variety of inks. Then I inked all of the edges with Truffle Mix'd Media Inx.

I created the large, hand-made flower using the Rose Creations dies by Spellbinders. You can find a tutorial for this flower HERE. The leaves are manufactured by The Dusty Attic. This chipboard element was dry embossed to add texture to the leaves.

This Wrought Iron Trim Set was painted and inked to give it an aged look. I adhered the chipboard element with a spray adhesive to avoid glue from seeping out from under.

Each of the smaller drawers is decorated with an inspirational word and my favorite embellie... eyelets! I love the look of metal embellishments on any project.

The sides of the desk organizer were decorated in a slightly different manner. I covered the surface of the sides with printed tissue paper, making sure to leave creases and wrinkles in the paper. Then I added a coat of gesso for added texture and a layer of Glass Bead Gel. The entire surface was then misted and the edges inked.

This is a closer view of the Glass Beads Gel. I love the beautiful texture this adds to my project!

The back of the organizer was altered in a similar manner. Only instead of adding Glass Beads Gel, I used Ceramic Stucco to give the surface more texture.

Before I go, I'd like to show you how I organize my layouts now. I used to keep my layouts in large stackable boxes, but I quickly ran out of space for those boxes. I also realized that the boxes made it difficult for my baby girl (my aspring scrapbook artist) to view my layouts (something she LOVES to do). So I decided to hang my work on Clip It Up Swinging Wall Arms instead.

My studio has many nooks and crannies because the ceilings are angled. So this solution works perfectly for me! Plus, each Swinging Wall Arm holds numerous layouts! This is such a beautiful and organized way to display my work without adding clutter to my studio. (Now I just need about 10 more Swinging Wall Arms to hold the rest of my layouts LOL!)

Ready for the Holidays “Clip it Up” Style

Barbara and I are both thinking along the same wavelengths…time to get ready for the holidays!!

Like Barbara, I had all my Christmas stuff piled into boxes, and I really didn’t know what I had. So I sorted through it all, got rid of a lot, put all the papers into a file box and all my embellies I hung onto my Clip It Up.

Last year I won the entire Dear Lizzy Christmas collection from American Crafts, so a lot of the things on my Clip it Up are from that collection. With some of the scraps that I had, I whipped up a few cards to share with you today!

Every year I do a December Daily album, and this year I am gonna use my stash instead of buying new! I am using the Fancy Pants Brag Book as my base and will keep it right next to my Clip it Up so that I can do my pages very quickly!

Hello Fellow Scrappers!

It's Barbara again, and I am thinking about Christmas! that is, Christmas scrapbooking supplies.

I normally keep my Christmas scrap goodies out until about the middle of February. Then I tuck them away somewhere. Well, I decided it was time to get them out and see exactly what I had left from last year. Not to mention, I need them out where I can see them.

So this will be another post about the Clip it Up Swinging Arm Mount. I have found so many uses for them! I love them and they take up very little room. I actually had to use two Clip it Up Swinging Arm Mounts for all the supplies I had left. It sure is nice to have a place where I can have them displayed, and yet it was so easy to do. I now know what I have and what I will need.

Normally I would have it all in a basket or ziploc bag, and then have to go digging through everything to find a particular thing. Now it's all hung up and easy to find, and just in time to get ready for Christmas.

I know I need to make a few cards, and I am also thinking about making a few Christmas ornaments. It's my favorite holiday!

Anyway, here are the pictures of the Clip it Up Swinging Arm Mounts and my leftover goodies.

The layout I am sharing with you today is of my sweet grandaughter. I used My Mind’s Eye Lost and Found 2 Blush collection. The flowers are made by Petaloo and are very blingy, but I thought it was fitting to have bling when talking about Christmas. Plus the flowers match the papers perfectly!

This is my landing coming from the main floor to the second floor.

Right across from the landing is this reading area I designed for my kids. Now I read with my grandkids there. You can’t see but the shelves above the seating area store our favorite books.

I’ve enjoyed showing you my remodeled rooms! I love to look at ideas and get inspired, so I thought sharing some of the projects I’ve done would be fun.

I remember going to a trade show, and people were surprised at some of the booth pieces I had created. I guess they just thought I was an organizer – not the creative type! Being creative is something that brings me a lot of joy and happiness. I know I have more energy and I’m happier when I’m creating!

In the Studio 5 segment – they showed the bed in my guest room . When Jenn and I went out looking for something fun and unique for the headboard, we found this vintage metal cover for a window. I loved it, but knew it wasn’t wide enough. We decided we’d keep our eyes opened and try to find something to go on both sides of the metalwork. After shopping, I left Jenn to go to my hair appt. There’s a place called Second Hand Chic I go every time I get my hair done because it’s right next door. I walked in after my appt. and there was the solution for my bed. Kelly had just brought these two pillars in off of an old home. I bought them on the spot! Kept them chippy and just wiped them off. Kelly usually doesn’t have things like that in her shop – but it was destiny!!! Problem solved…same day!!!! If you’re in the Salt Lake area, stop in and see Kelly and tell her Renee sent you!!! I love her shop because she prices things reasonably and moves her inventory around. She puts things in color grouping and it’s a treat to go in and see how she’s decorated. She’s always good about promoting other similar shops and has become a cute friend of mine!

We had some dead trees in front of our home, and my husband asked my son to chop them down. I went out because I was nervous about the whole thing. I told him to move our bench, and he kept reassuring me the tree was going to be falling another way. Well… we all know that “Mother knows best!” and yes, the tree fell and broke the bench in half. So – I had him remove all the broken pieces and the cast iron ends of the bench became the end of my bed. Might as well make a bad situation into a good one!!!!!

I loved this antique croquet box and put it up for my shelf.

I found these metal shutters and fell in love with them. The old hand made metal basket below holds the extra pillows when someone is sleeping in there.

This is my grandmother’s wedding dress. I loved that she gave it to me to keep. It has such fine hand work on it – hard to see in the picture – but beautifully simple!

I found this table and two old chairs – the one chair was already painted the color of the room – bonus!!! Love old suitcases to display things in.

This radiator use to be in a building my dad owned. When they were going to level the bldg to build a parking lot (sad) I would have taken all the radiators – but being newly married and having no place to store them – I only got one. We have dragged it around our whole married life and finally it got the room it deserves. They are SO HEAVY – it took 4 of us to carry it upstairs!!!!

Thanks for joining me on a tour of the rooms that I’m finally getting around to re-modeling. It’s my creative outlet for now! My dream job would be having someone pay me to go and find “treasures” and re-purpose them! Do you think Frank and Mike from American Pickers would let me join them on their free-styling time????? It drives me crazy cause I see so many cool things they pass up for OIL CANS – REALLY!!!! Are you an American Picker fan?

Bathroom #2

This is the “before” picture of my bathroom upstairs. It was dated and the only thing I had done since we moved in 25 yrs ago was to get rid of the wallpaper, remove the linoleum and replace it with tile and a neutral paint. BORING!!!

Before… (As you can see I’d already started patching things up and ripping up the tile baseboard) I’m not very good at remembering to take the “before pics”!

After…

One of my hardest things to solve – but then turned into one of my favorites was the floor under the sink.

I couldn’t find tile to match what was already in there. So I went to a salvage yard and found an old door with some rich color and panels. We cut the door to fit in the area under the sink and I love it!!!! I have three favorite things in this room. They were all areas that I had a hard time problem solving – but they turned out to be the best! The door on the floor is #1!

Another architectural piece above the sink that I got at the same place as the door. I loved how the sink looks and the old syrup bottle as the soap container.

My #2 favorite! I wanted something unique for my towel holder and I already had those cute funny crooked wheels from one of my outings and thought to pair them up with the pulley. Love how you can see it in the mirror as well as the actual piece hanging down. LOVE, LOVE LOVE this! It’s a “happy thing” for me!

There use to be a framed in doorway separating this part of the bathroom. I removed it and put the boards along the whole wall. Painted them and then used gel stain to antiqued them. I loved how it opened up the room and makes it look soooo much bigger!

Loved this vanity. It looks like wood, but it’s metal. Yes, I’m going through a heavy metal stage right now!

This chippy old screen door had a great green color on it. We used it in our booth at shows, so when we changed the booth –I found a great place for it to retire in. It’s a great backdrop for the chippy rusty metal stand that holds the towels.

#3 Favorite! As I was trying to come up with a unique TP holder – I had this light sconce so I added an old spindle to it, cut it off to the right length, then added a metal part of a lantern burner on the end that was cut. I was pleasantly surprised with how cute it turned out.

This is the view behind the door. I used old fork to hang up the hangers.

A friend of mine from California brought me two of her old bird cages. I used this one as my light in the bathroom. Love the lines it creates when it’s on. The other one I used in my Studio. Love them!!! Thanks Shawna!!!

This is the other part of the door – I couldn’t waste it so it became the valance for the curtain. I used vintage spoons to hold my unique curtain rod.

Studio 5

Studio 5 is a local program here in Salt Lake City, UT. My darling niece Jenn does a segment on the show called “Trash to Treasures”. Jenn asked me if Studio 5 could come out and film my two remodeled bathrooms, so I agreed to do it ONLY if I didn’t have to be on camera! They ended up filming some of my other rooms as well.

Jenn and I have long been “partners in crime” together on many occasions. We are both thrift store/American Pickers/antique treasure hunters and we love to “up-cycle or repurpose” weird pieces we find. Our creative minds together can usually solve any problem either one of us would have.

The first bathroom is a really small half bath off the kitchen. It was a challenge because it is so small and I hated the cabinet the sink was in. I made this into my “wash and sew” themed bathroom. I think you’ll understand why as you look at the pictures.

This is the view looking in from the door. We had put in hardwood floors after moving in and the other cabinet use to be against the other wall – so that created a problem when we took the cabinet out. I found a board covered with rusted tin for $5 and used it under the “sink/tub” area to fill in and then added a couple of metal tiles to border it.

This view is as you walk in and turn to your right. I love the old green ironing board along with the old wringer washer above the toilet. It has really cool writing on it. The washboard on the wall is fun also. Doesn’t it make you grateful for washing machines!!!

My light is an old milk strainer with an vintage silver platter for the base. I’m lucky to have a friend who is an electrician who can take my wacky ideas and help me make them work! The rusted patina was already there and that’s why I loved it!

Isn’t this a cute double sink wash tub! The plumber thought I was nuts when I showed him what I was using for my sink!!!! Some people have NO vision!

I cut the top cover and used vintage hinges so I could access and use the right part of the inside of the tub to store clean towels and diapers for my grandkids. I added a vintage knob to use for the handle.

I love the metal color on the edges of the tub. The tub wasn’t high enough to clear the plumbing already there, so I had these metal holders and used them to put the feet in to raise it up. My motto: Where there's a decorating will, there is ALWAYS a solution!!!

The old storage box on the right is for starch, and the one on the left is a Palmolive Company Toilet Soap box. I think they’re so cute and perfect to put bathroom necessities in!!!

This shelf is an old rusted metal can that someone had cut in half lengthwise, then carefully folded over the sharp edges and added the shelves. I love it that someone was so thrifty and solved their storage problems with something they had on hand. I use it for my collection of old soaps. It’s a happy piece for me! I love it!!!

I found this old metal vanity with the mirror at a consignment store. It was the perfect thing to match the metal tub and to store more items on.

This is a grouping of three metal sleeve holders that I hooked together with old fabric buttons, vintage sewing notions and an old hanger.

This is my towel holder made from the metal end of something I had in my collection of “junk”, a metal quilt hanger wrapped in old binding tape with some old crocheting thread.

Thanks for going on a tour of one of my quirky bathrooms. I will post the other bathroom (my favorite) on Saturday. I will then post some of the other rooms and areas they filmed for Sunday and Monday. As you can see, making organizational products satisfies the “organize” side of me – but these things help satisfy the “creative” side of me!

Exquisite Diva

Hello my fellow crafters! Natasha here with a layout I'd like to share with you.

This layout was inspired by the Prima October BAP Sketch. It is filled with Prima goodies... papers from different collections, flowers, masks etc. The photo is of my daughter a few years back on her first day of Pre-K. She looked like such a little diva in her denim skirt and matching hat. She LOVES to dress up and is a major girly-girl. But her personality is far from that of a diva's. That is why I named the layout, "Exquisite Diva... With a Heart of Gold". She is the sweetest little thing. :o)

The beautiful bracket that surrounds my layout is a chipboard element created by The Dusty Attic . I painted and inked the bracket and adhered a piece of Prima paper to the back of it.

Sigh... don't you just love flowers? LOL. I am definitely a 'dimensional scrapper'. I love to add layers and layers of gorgeous product on my layouts.

This Baroque Frame is also a chipboard element. I adhered decorative pearls to the flourishes for added interest. The frame itself was inked with pigment ink and randomly embossed with opaque white embossing powder creating a lovely texture.

To create this stitched flourish, I used a Prima stencil and masked it using pigment ink. I then covered the masked area with clear embossing powder. To add texture, I poked holes along the design and hand-stitched the flourishes with embroidery floss.

This is the top of the Baroque Frame. I think the pearls add such elegance to this beautiful chippie.

If you haven't already noticed, I have a slight obsession with eyelets. LOL. So of course I had to add a decorative corner to my bracket using eyelets.

The chipboard portion of the title was painted white and covered with Donna Salazar's Fairy Dust Glitter. The word 'Diva' is made up of Thickers foam alphabet stickers.

I created this tag out of patterned paper. I used an embossing folder to add texture, and I stitched a border around the tag.

Ok, corny title, I know, but I am very excited to share this project with you today using the tab dividers from the Clip it Up!

The Clip it Up comes with some nice tab dividers that you can use to separate your stash into certain categories and make it easier to find things. I decided to use mine for a different purpose! These tags make a fantastic base for a Halloween Banner. Here is a quick run through of how I made the banner.

First, did you know that you can emboss these tabs with embossing plates??? I tried the first one, hoping it would work, and it came out just beautifully! I used four different embossing plates on my tabs.

Next I use a die to cut out some scalloped circles from orange tulle and layered lots of circle together.

I used a punch to punch a bracket shape from this fantastic Echo Park Halloween line. I inked the edges of each piece and added a chipboard letter by American Crafts.

Then using a hot glue gun, I added the tulle flower to the lower portion of the tab and some orange pom-pom trim to the bottom edge. Then I pop-dotted the punched bracket shape and letter on top.

To string up my tabs, I layered some orange and black buttons on some velvet ribbon and tied them around the ribbon.

I was originally going to stitch them to the ribbon, but I found that by tying them, I could slid them around to make them evenly spaced.

I added my tabs to the ribbons and Voila!! Here is my completed banner!

I hope that you can find some creative ways to use these tab dividers!

Clip it Up and Go!!!

Hi Everyone!

I am here today to share a super duper little tip with you involving the Clip it Up Jumbo and the Upper Tier.

I have a Question first....and answer HONESTLY!

How many of you have gone to a crop with friends or even alone, and just not really prepared for it like you should have?
You get there and you don't have the flowers that would go perfectly on a layout, or you don't have your bakers twine to add the final touch to your card...?

Well, I have...MANY times. I always say that I am going to prepare WAAAAAY in advance, but when it comes down to it...I procrastinate.
I end up grabbing a few things, tossing it in a bag and crossing my fingers that it is stuff that will actually make a layout! LOL

I was recently invited to a crop with my Sister in Law...and OF COURSE...I did not prepare for it. It was only a few days advance notice, but still, I should have prepared some...right??
Well, I didn't....so guess what I did....
I took my ENTIRE Clip it Up unit! I sure did! I used my clips, added a few things to it like my cricut mat and a couple of kits that I hadn't had a chance to use...and I put that WHOLE thing in my suburban! I did not even take it apart. I used the handy dandy carrying handle to tote it out, and it stood upright all the way to the crop! I don't make a habit of driving like Dale Earnhardt or Jeff Gordan, so I had no spills or loose embellies when I arrived.

Now ladies...Let me tell you...I thought I was going to get laughed at...but I didn't! EVERYONE LOVED my unit and how it was so easy to transport! I showed them the clips and how I organize my stuff. One lady asked me about how to store multiple items...I showed her how I used my clips to double up on some of my embellies, and I gave her a few other tips, like using a binder ring to put several items on and hang it on the swing arm.

I talked about how easy it is to assemble and disassemble.
I told them that they all are originally black, but that I had used Krylon spray paint to make mine fit my color needs.
I even told them that I had started out with multiple jumbled boxes of packages and ended up super happy once I got everything transferred to my unit.

If I were a door to door sales lady, I think I would have sold 10 units on the spot! LOL
Well, I'm not...but I did tell them a few options on how to obtain their own.

Unfortunately, I did not get any scrapping done that night. I was honestly chit chatting for 3 hours about the fabulous Clip it Up products and how they have helped me in my organizational needs. I did however, have a project out in my truck that I had been working on that I shared with them, and I will share with you all today.

It is a Homecoming Mum...it is a Texas Tradition...all the boys and girls wear a mum to show school spirit on Homecoming Week. My son is a Freshman football player, so of course, he chose to partake in this tradition.

This is made entirely of real ribbons from Really Reasonable Ribbon...satins, grosgrains, sheers...and all were organized on my Ribbon Organizer. It certainly helps to know what you have on hand if you are going to do a large project like this one. I was able to know in one glance that I would need a few more blues than I had on hand, and maybe even a couple of whites. When I gathered up all the ribbons I needed, I set to work to create a very unique arm band for my son. Well, all the girls loved it and he even ended up with a new girlfriend!

I love my units, and wouldn't trade them for the world!!!

Hello my fellow crafters!

Natasha here to share a layout I created with Prima's Jack and Jill collection. When I saw these cute papers, I knew they would be perfect for a lovey dovey layout LOL.

The photo is of my husband and I a few years ago after he had proposed to me.

All of the chipboard elements on this layout are manufactured by The Dusty Attic. Each piece was altered using various mediums- ink, paint, embossing powder, glitter and mists.

The title letters are Thickers foam stickers that were adhered with foam squares for added dimension.

I cut apart several different pearl flourishes and positioned them throughout my layout.

This flower was hand-made using Donna Salazar's Rose Creations dies by Spellbinders. I simply inked the edges and layered the die-cuts to create this simple flower.

As always, I like to sneak in a touch of lacing on my work. :o)

All of the stitching was done by hand. The vintage lace was stitched around the border as well.

Before I go, I just wanted to quickly show you how I utilize one of my Clip It Up Wall Mounts. I have this Wall Mount above my desk where I hang things that I need to keep close by.

Like my flower die cuts...

I use Donna Salazar's Antiquities collection very often so I gathered all of my scraps from this paper line and cut out various sizes of flowers. I organized the die-cuts by size and placed them in small baggies. I attached the baggies using a binder ring and clipped it onto my Wall Mount. Now, whenever I need to make a flower for a project I am working on, I do not need to stop to cut flower layers. I always have them handy and close by.

Hanging from my Wall Mount, I also have my Glimmer Mist color guide. I sprayed each mist onto a tag and wrote its name on the back. This makes it easier for me to coordinate my mists with my projects. Definitely a time-saver!

It's Barbara again,with some reorganization.

A few months ago I had a post about the Clip it Up Swinging Wall Arm. I use them to store new product that I purchase. Below is a picture.

I really don't like to have things laying around and the Clip it Up Swinging Wall Arms are great for stopping the clutter. When I have time, I find a new place for the purchase. Well, I did find a place for it, but then I went to a CKC Convention in Charlotte NC. I ended up getting 30 more packages of those pearls because they were only .99 a package. So, I decided to move all my pearls to my Mini Clip it Up. Thanks to those clips, reorganization is a snap. I really love my Clip it Ups! They really do make organization easy! If you have been hemming and hawing about whether to purchase one. Stop! Buy one, you won't regret it! I purchased my first one a few years back, and now I don't know how I lived without it!

Today's layout is a heritage layout using Graphic 45's Curtain Call collection. I know I have said it before, but I LOVE their papers! I simply can't get enough!

Clip it Up and Hair Accessories!!

Hi everyone,

Misty here with you today! How is the weather where you are? It is still pretty hot down here in Texas...still hitting the triple digits. On top of that, the wildfires that are burning all over my state are a little bit unsettling...to say the least. I have a brother and 2 cousins that are firefighters...and they have never been so busy in all their firefighting careers. Please say a little prayer for everyone that has been effected by the fires and for the men and women risking their lives to put them out. Even with fires burning all around, life still goes on.

School has been in session for 3 weeks down here...which means, of course, that I have been working busy as a bee making all kinds of accessories for my daughters. I actually found myself crafting just to keep my mind off of everything going on around me. As a matter of fact, I made so many hair bows and headbands, that I had to think of another way to store them. I found the perfect use for my altered Clip it Up...a hair accessory organizer!

I use the tabs to hold the bows, and the tri-arm to hold the headbands. I even place a few of the "poofy" bows around the base to complete the display. Genius right? LOL. It actually works magnificently, and the girls say that they feel like they are "shopping" for their hair accessories when they pick them out each morning! It is a great way to start a day...Diva style! I LOVE the fact that it makes them start out in a good morning every day. I even heard my six year old say that she felt like Hannah Montana! LOL

I have also been sorting ribbon and getting it ready for my next projects. I have a few things sorted for bows, home decor projects, and my favorite upcoming project...my son's Homecoming Arm Band! I am so excited to do that...I just can't wait! The drop down bar of the Ribbon Organizer has allowed to "Clip Up" my ribbon and get it ready for the intended project. LOVE Clip It Up!!!!

Here are a few pictures of my latest project using some gorgeous ribbon that i took from my clips on my Ribbon Organizer and supplies from my Jumbo.

This layout was made using some Jillibean that you sent to me when she donated at CHA.

I have never been so organized in my craft area as I am now with my Clip It Ups. That is the honest truth! I used to feel overwhelmed with my "Stuff" because it was just so MUCH! Now, I feel like there is a place for everything and everything is in it's place. THAT makes me one Happy Crafter!!!!!

I can feel it in the air… summer is over… kids are back in school… the air is cooler… and I’m getting my house back to rights after the chaos of summer!! Does that sound like you? Looking for some tips on getting things organized? We can help you if it’s your craft room you’re organizing! Matter of fact… more than your craft room! The amazing Clip it Up products are fabulous for every room in your house! Check out some of the past posts from the Design Team… they help organize recipes, bills, school work, sheet music, cards… you name it! Anything that needs organizing, the Clip it Ups can help!! ... Well… almost anything… they still haven’t come out with something to clean the mess of clothes in my closet… but if they do, I’m first on the list! LOL!

Ok, on with the post!

It’s Tina here, and today I am going to share with you a layout and a few organizational tips!

I created this fall themed layout using an older Basic Grey collection that I had hanging on my Floor Model Clip it Up. I would have forgotten that I had it, but there it was… hanging right in front of my nose! And it worked perfectly! I also snagged a sheet out of a completely different BG line as well… just to bring out a bit of the blue in my son’s jacket! I think it did the trick!

TECHNIQUE IDEA:

Let me share one fun technique I tried in this layout that you can try at home. I cut a square of cardstock just a bit larger than the oval. I trimmed strips of various patterned papers and lightly distressed the edges. I adhered each of them to the rectangle. Then I ran it thru my Spellbinders ™ Grand Calibur ® die cutting machine using the Grand Nestabilities ® Grand Ovals die template. This cut out the large oval mat! To make this photo mat even more fun, I also cut out a larger Grand Scalloped Oval to “mat my mat” so to speak! How fun!! Add a bit of Stickles glitter and this unique photo mat is ready for my oval photo!

This technique would be an awesome one to do using scraps!! Bits of this and that coming together to make a fabulous photo mat!!

STORAGE TIPS:

Speaking of scraps… how do you store your scraps? Here are a couple of ideas for you…

*I like to store scraps belonging to a particular paper collection with the rest of the collection. In other words, I don’t store the cut papers separate from the whole sheets. I like to keep the collections in Extra Large Ziploc baggies on my Floor Model. This way, even if there is just a little piece of paper left, the next time I’m working with that collection, that little piece may be all I need! And it’s right there when I need it!!

*For storing cardstock scraps, I like to use transparent plastic storage envelopes. And I hang these on my Floor model as well. I don’t really use a lot of cardstock, but you could have one of these envelopes for blues, one for greens, and one for reds… etc. And all the scraps are together and within arms reach!

How do you store your extra clips?

I have come up with this simple idea to keep them right where I need them… I keep the full bags clipped on the lowest arm of my Floor model… (that’s all that’s there for now… to many little fingers to get into that stuff!) But I always keep a good supply of the clips and the clip grips in this little bag… it’s always open and is so easy to get into! Not to mention… cute!

Hi Everyone,

Barbara here with my altered Main base and Upper Tier Clip It Up. Everything except the lace and bling, was made entirely out of the Graphic 45 Renaissance Faire collection. I love their papers and I love how this came out. Almost everything is modge podged.

To start take your CIU completely apart. Then trace the bottom of the CIU on the paper you are going to use. Cut out the circle, no need to worry about being even since you can cover it with some trim. Adhere to the top of the Clip It Up base and modge podge the top. Next measure and cut the strips for the side of the bottom. Adhere them and then modge podge. Now you need to cover your pole with paper. Once you have that done, I suggest modge podging the outside while it is still on the pole. On to the flowers and leaves. Cut or punch out whatever flowers you want to use. Apply modge podge to the top and shape immediately. Do each piece this way. When they are dry, turn them over and put a light coat of modge podge on the back. After they dry, adhere them to the paper on your pole.

Do the Upper Tier of the Clip It Up the same way. Add a middle piece or top piece if you like, or make dividers. My dividers are not anything fancy. I just wanted to use my scraps of leftover paper.

Now here is my altered Clip It Up:

The Wall Mount Graphic 45 Style!!

Hello everyone, it's Barbara again!

Today I want to share my alteration of the Clip It Up Wall Mount.

First of all, I want to say how easy it was to assemble. I had it hung in a matter of minutes! I think it took longer to find my tools! Anyway, when it came to altering the Wall Mount, the first thing I thought of was adding a shelf to the top of it. Well, it ended up being a two tier shelf for my deep edge punches. To start this project I went to Lowe's and purchased a 7.8" D x 23.8" W white shelf made by Rubbermaid. The next step was to cut the shelf in half lengthwise. Then I put one of the halves on top of the Wall Mount. I then marked how much I needed to cut off. Then you cut that part off. I did the same to the other board. Use the pieces you cut off to put between the two lengths and then glue or screw. Whichever you prefer.

You now have a two tiered shelf. I used Graphic 45's Le Cirque collection and covered my shelf. I used Mod Podge to seal it. I also added some lace and trims. I really love it, and now I have created even more storage for my goodies! I can't wait to make another one for my other Clip It Up Wall Mount!

No Paper? No Problem!

Well since I have arranged all of my favorite things on my Clip It Up, it’s time for me to start using them (cause let me tell ya, stuff is comin’ in faster than stuff is goin’ out!). So I decided to really challenge myself on this one. My challenge was to create a layout using ONLY things from my Clip It Up and a white piece of cardstock. Yup, that’s right…no papers. And since I wasn’t sure what I was going to be using, I decided on a photo that was black and white so that it would go with anything.

I started by going through my CIU and finding some things that I really liked, and some packages of things that were almost gone and that I wanted to get rid of. So this is what I pulled off: (Note: I scrap at night, so it was hard for me to get good lighting on these photos!)

I went through each package and pulled out things that I wanted to use. I started to notice that there were certain colors in the items I had chosen: blue, green, and purple…not a combo I usually use, but I liked it! One of the items I pulled off was this old ephemera pack from Making Memories. It has some small pieces of corrugated cardboard in there, so I decided to take those out and use them.

I wanted to add a bit more color to the page since I wasn’t using patterned papers, so I painted the cardboard pieces using some paint daubers from Ranger (which I LOVE). I also had pulled out some tiny chipboard pieces from Maya Road, so I painted a few of those as well.

Then came the arranging. I spent a little time just pushing the elements around the page until I was happy with the balance and the placement. And here is my finished layout!

I have to tell you that this honestly came much better than I thought it was going to!!! I was so please with the result; I might challenge myself to do this again!

I was so in the mood for using up things on my CIU, that I created a few other small projects, too.

I used some crocheted flowers and ribbons to make these cute hair clips for my daughter (that got rid of another package on my CIU!).

I also decided to condense things on my CIU and get rid of excess packaging. The boxes that the Maya Road chipboard and kraft pieces come in are a bit bulky, so I decided to transfer them to some CIU zipper bags. It made SO much more space!

Well I believe that this is my last post for Clip It Up and I want to thank Renee and all the other ladies for letting me be a part of such a great team!!! I seriously have taken a new approach to organization, and this position has made me critically look at my “stuff” and how I can be more efficient in organizing and using it. I have had such a wonderful time and will think of you all every time I look at my Clip It Up!

Hello everyone!

Natasha here with a 7 Gypsies Shadowbox Tray that I created using Bo Bunny's Gabrielle collection. The tray originally comes in a wood stain color, but I 'whitewashed' it to coordinate with the papers.

The large flower was hand-made and all of the chipboard elements, including this baroque corner, are manufactured by The Dusty Attic.

Most of the flowers used for this project are either made by Prima or hand-made.

The photos are of my children several years ago. They are very close and I am so grateful for that. I love how content they look in these photos.

This chipboard element was inked, painted and decorated with white embossing powder.

The title is made up of Thickers foam alphabet stickers that were inked and covered with Stickles.

In one of the narrower sections, I punched a border and added hand-stitching for texture. In the section beside it, I laced tulle through holes that I drilled through the tray.

I love these little vials made by Tim Holtz. Each vial holds special fairy powers and magical spells... or in other words... glitter, micro beads and torn paper. :o)

I am truly blessed to have such wonderful children, and as the journaling reads, I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect.

As you have probably noticed, I am seriously addicted to chipboard and bling. With such a large collection of these products, I had to find the best way to organize them. Believe me when I tell you that there is no better way than with Clip it Up Products. After receiving my first Clip it Up, I immediately fell in love and I now have eleven! My chipboard collection hangs from a Base Unit and my bling collection completely fills up two Mini’s. When I say filled, I mean so jam-packed that I couldn't get anymore clips on. And these Clip it Ups hold A LOT of product! I believe that is when I realized I had an addiction LOL. NAH!! I just need another Clip it Up! LOL. I regret not being able to photograph my Clip it Ups for you, but I am experiencing a camera malfunction. However, I do hope to share photos of my entire craft studio with you in a future post!

All At Your Finger Tips!!!!

Hi Everyone,

My project today is a layout that I’ve created using themed embellishments. My favorite part of having a Clip it Up in my scrap room is that I have all of my themed embellishments organized by theme and grouped together on my Clip it Up for easy use.

Creating a themed project is so easy for me now because I can see all of my products at once for each theme, and then easily chose the products that I will be using. No more missing embellishments tucked into a drawer or bin that never gets used because of being buried under a mountain of other embellishments. I used my outdoor/camping stickers and embellishments on this layout to compliment the photos of my son on one of his walks through the woods with Daddy…one of his all time favorite things to do! I added a couple of pine tree dimensional stickers and also a compass to the center of my paper flower. I love that I could see all of my outdoor themed embellishments at once, and then easily chose the perfect accents for my page.

I hope that you have enjoyed this layout, and that you also enjoy the organization that the Clip it Up will bring to your crafty space!!

Review Time!!!

Hi! This is Misty Willis...and I am going to give a review of a couple of my Clip it Up units today.

First, let me just say I LOVE LOVE LOVE my units! I have the 36" Ribbon Organizer, the Main Base, the Jumbo and the Upper Tier.

I am reviewing the Ribbon Organizer and the Main Base today, along with the plastic tabs.

When I stumbled across the Simply Renee site a little over a year ago, I was in awe of the amazing products. When I was chosen to be part of her Design Team, I was beyond thrilled!

I am an avid scrapbooker with LOTS of "stuff" that needed organizing. I was able to utilize my Jumbo and Upper Tier to organize most of my embellies pretty easily. This thing holds a TON of stuff, and I keep it right on my desk in plain sight so that I can grab whatever I want or need easily. LOVE it.

Even more than my need for scrappy organization, however, was my need for Ribbon organization. I have an insatiable LOVE for ribbon. Not kidding. It is sooooo pretty and there are sooooo many things that it can be used for. And...I have a TON of it.

Here is how I used to store my ribbon....in several large containers just like this one:

When Renee sent my 36' Ribbon Organizer to me, this is what my jumbled mess became...

Once it was organized and in sight, I was able to actually SEE what I had, what I needed, and what I had duplicated! LOL

I began creating bows, headbands, purses, scrapbook layouts, cards, and more...and almost everything I do has ribbon on it.

Made possible by the ability to see it all displayed on my Clip it Up. I began creating SO MANY bows, that I had to quit giving them to my daughter because she will never wear them all! SO, I decided to start hanging on to them and giving as gifts to the many little girls I know...but where/ how would I store them to keep them from getting crushed?

SOLUTION: My Main Base! I used the tabs as hangers. I punched two holes in the tab with a one hole punch and I stuck the clips through. PERFECT! I now have a perfect place to store the bows that I make! They are even hung up nice and displayed beautifully!

So, I guess what I am trying to say, is that I would be lost without my units! I love every one that I have, and can think of a hundred more uses for them! The organization possibilities are endless when it comes to Simply Renee and Clip it Up!

Craft Space in Waiting

Hello Everyone!

It’s Tina here, as promised! I’ll try this again… I had my post almost finished and my program froze… poof! All gone! Grr… So yes, saving as I go now! :)

Alrightie, Today I have a few of things to share with you. I’m going to share a couple of changes made to my “craft space in waiting”… I have a project to share, my Floor Model and a problem!

Let’s begin with my Floor Model! I was SOOO excited setting this up! It took very little time and was very easy to set up. I did it all by myself… except I did get my Hubby to tighten everything just to make sure it was good and secure.

Once I set it up, I took everything that I had on my Main Base and Upper Tier and put it on ONE ring! (You’ll see my Main/Upper below) I was blown away by how much just one ring would hold! All of my alpha’s, all of my flowers and a bunch of embellishments! Check it out!

On the second ring, I added a bunch of papers. No this is FAR from all of my papers. I have lots more to go thru and add! However, I did add a lot of my collections! Basic Grey, Echo Park, Fancy Pants, Webster’s Pages… I LOVE to buy collections! But my problem is that once I buy a new one, I forget about the older ones! They used to get stacked in a box! No more! Now they are out where I can see, admire and USE them!

Speaking of using them, check out this layout I created of my adorable daughter!

On this page, I used products from all of my Clip it Up products that are presently in use… my floor model held my papers, my alpha’s and my Kaiser craft wood lamp post. My Main Base held my Spellbinders die templates, and my Clip it Up Mini held my flowers.

I did discover a problem however. Check out these Easter buckets…

I need a better storage solution for my inks, sprays and paints! I am waiting not-so-patiently for the Clip it Up Tray to be in stock! THAT is the perfect solution!! I’ll be the first one in line!! Don’t try and fight me either! LOL!

Before I sign off, I also want to share with you one other change I made since my last post. I added the Upper Tier to my Main Base. My Main Base is used for Spellbinders Die templates. I have a lot of stamps that coordinate with those dies, and wanted to keep them close by. So they are hanging on the Upper Tier, directly above the die templates!

I am still working away on my craft space… I am super excited as we are going looking at cabinets this weekend!! I have a good feeling! And they are SO perfect! They need some work but I think they will do the trick wonderfully!!

Hello everyone, it's Barbara again.

Today I want to show you how I use one of my Clip it Up Wall Mounts. In an earlier post I told you how I separated all of my older flowers by colors, and placed them in baggies. Well, what I have done is place the colors I most frequently use on the Wall Mount. And I have found that I am using them more often. In fact, a few of the bags have gotten quite thin compared to what they were when I started. And as they thin, I am able to put another color on.

Here is the Wall Mount:

For today’s layout, I used papers donated by My Little Shoebox. I added some older Prima flowers which were on my Wall Mount. The centers are some Fantastic Findings buttons. I used green cardstock and a Spellbinder Nestability for the leaves. Almost all of the punches used are Martha Stewart, except for that tiny butterfly. Well here's my layout. I hope it inspires you, and that you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Happy Birthday Clip It Up and Little Yellow Bicycle Style!!!!

I am so excited to share some photos with you of an altered Clip it Up I made using the Little Yellow Bicycle Cupcake Love line. I spent a TON of time on this, and I am so happy with the way it came out. My daughter's birthday was on May 16th, and she turned 2, so I based it around that theme, and the "cupcake" theme from the papers.

I used two paper mache hat boxes from my local craft store and painted them white and put a crackle and glitter finish on them with a clear varnish. I used some of the Little Yellow Bicycle sprinkle stickers and decorated the edges. I found some beaded string that I draped around the cakes and I made the "Happy Birthday" banner from Little Yellow Bicycle papers. There is a "cupcake Love" banner, too, on the other side, but I forgot to photograph that. That came in one of the packages of stickers from Little Yellow Bicycle. I added some trim to the base of each cake tier.

The #2 on top of the stand was covered in Little Yellow Bicycle paper and is glued to some spools which I painted white to give it a bit more lift. I used some floral picks from the craft store and drilled a hole in the top of the two and glued them in to make a splash of bling from the top of the stand. These tiers are meant to hold cupcakes, of course! :)

This was a great excuse for me to make some yummy vanilla cupcakes. I used the "Cupcake Wrappers" cartridge for the Cricut to cut the wrappers and the scalloped circles for the cupcake picks. I used stickers from the Little Yellow Bicycle embellishments to decorate each pick and added them to the cupcakes. Some of the wrappers are decorated with some lace crape paper from Little Yellow Bicycle, too.

For the Main Base Clip it Up itself, I painted it white and added some ribbon down the center pole. I used a scalloped circle paper from Little Yellow Bicycle for the base, which fit perfectly, and them added trim around the outside edge of the base. On the metal circular bar, I strung some sparkly star garland, and added three large white bows to each end of the arms of the top of the Clip it Up.

The "cones" are meant to hold party favors, but they are actually party hats! I used my SCAL program to cut them on my Cricut, added a pom pom to the top, some ribbon trim around the edges, and some pretty elastic ribbon to go under your chin! Each hat is held by a clip which has a white bow tied to it.

It really turned out just as I had imagined it, although it is much taller than I thought it was going to be! :) Charlotte had such a fun time at her Birthday and the stand was a big hit. But NOW what am I going to do with it? :)

Happy Summer fellow crafters! Natasha here and I hope you are all enjoying the warm weather and relaxing time with your families, but don't forget to squeeze in a little crafting time for yourself. :o) Today I would like to share a project I made using Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden Collection and The Dusty Attic's Large Storage Drawers. This storage set is easy to assemble and decorate. It comes with sixteen drawers, but I removed four drawers so that I could further alter my project. The entire drawer set was painted with white acrylic paint. It was then misted and masked using Glimmer Mist. I adhered several hand-made flowers, as well as flowers and bling made by Prima, to the sides of my project. This flower was hand-made using coordinating papers. You can find a tutorial for this flower HERE. All of the chipboard elements including the vine, butterflies, ornate corners and mini words are also made by The Dusty Attic. I attached Foundations Metal Feet by Tim Holtz to the bottom corners of my project. I also added a Rose Trim by Prima to the open spaces. This chipboard vine is one of my favorite chippies! It is so delicate and intricate. I inked it with Distress Ink and highlighted each leaf with coordinating Stickles. Before I go, I would like to show you how I organize my clear stamps. I store my stamps in Cropper Hopper Unmounted Stamp Books. I labeled each stamp book using divider tabs and hung them on a Clip It Up Wall Mount. The smaller stamps are stored in CD jewel cases that are organized in pull-out trays. I also created a stamp catalog by scanning the transparencies that came with each stamp set. I just love how you decorated this Clip It Up. I would also alter my Clip It Up with my three daughters and my mom. Like you, my mom passed away and my daughters love reminiscing about what they miss the most of their grandmother. This would be a lovely way to display my mom's pictures with my daughters. Like I commented on MME blog, I get my inspiration through paper and embellishments. When I come across beautiful papers it makes me want to create something special. Thanks for such great ideas.

When Renee and Carolyn sent this Clip It Up Main Base to me along with the gorgeous Stella and Rose "Hazel" collection...I was immediately overwhelmed with memories of my Grandmother.

The colors and patterns, along with the beautiful embellishments made me want to Alter this Clip It Up in honor of her memory. She was the one who taught me to crochet. She taught me to take beautiful pictures. She taught me to preserve my photos in albums. She is the one who taught me to read patterns, mix colors, and create beautiful works of art long before I even started school. Many, many hours were spent in her living room, in her favorite chair creating yet another beautiful masterpiece by only the light light of the lamp on her side table. She was my mentor...my inspiration, and my reason for having the love of all things ART.

My Grandmother is gone now, but her memory will live in my heart forever. She was my inspiration for altering this Clip It Up Main base.

To begin, I disassembled my unit and spray painted all of the parts with an antique ivory.

I reassembled it when it had dried, and added in all of the beautiful "Stella and Rose" papers and embellies.

For the center rod, I used the roller from and empty roll of gift wrap and slipped it over the unit's rod to create an alterable post.

Everything has a good layer of Mod Podge on it to seal it in and protect it.

Once all papers were in place and sealed in, I added in all of the embellies that said "Grandma" to me.

The lacy edges, the strand of pearls, the hand made flowers and the store bought ones...

But most of all...the Lamp. The lamp is front and center on this Clip It Up Main base ...because it is the ONE constant in all of my memories of my beautiful Grandmother, whom I love and miss dearly.

Altering this unit was not only fun, but therapeutic. I drew my inspiration from the most unlikely of sources. Now, this piece holds more value to me than it would if it were just another "random project."

Hello everyone,

Sarah here again to share with you some really fun projects that I created with the BoBunny Ad Lib collection. BoBunny was so kind and generous to have sent me this bright and cheery collection. I love the fun color combination of the BoBunny Ad Lib collection and just couldn’t resist the coordinating chipboard, stickers, and rub ons. First, I took some light teal spray paint to my Clip It Up Main Base, and then really decked it out with lots of BoBunny pattern paper and chipboard embellishments.

I am so thrilled with all of the fun colors on this Clip It Up Main Base that I had to add even more color. Now, this Clip It Up holds all of my fabric that I have folded into about 6”x12” pieces and hung them with the Clip It Up metals clips.

I also couldn’t resist creating a layout with this fun Ad Lib collection. My daughter’s last day of school photos that she snapped of herself walking down our street on the way to her bus were just perfect to use with this line.

I hope that you all have had just as much fun altering your Clip It Ups as I have, and if you have yet to alter a Clip It Up then you must give it a try!!

Hi Everyone!

It's Barbara here to share my altered Mini Clip it Up. Now I know we all think of scrapbooking organization when it comes to Clip it Up products. But there are so many other wonderful uses for them. Today I am going to show you how to use it for your kitchen. I call it my Kitchen Mini Clip it Up. The papers were donated by My Little Yellow Bicycle, and ironically match my kitchen colors pretty well. I wanted to paint the Mini Clip it Up white, so while I was waiting for the paint to dry , I started making some recipe cards to hang on my Kitchen Mini Clip it Up. They were a lot of fun to make, and look so cute. I can't wait to fill it up and Clip it UP! Here are some photos.

For the base of the Kitchen Mini Clip it Up I cut a circle, and then used shaped scissors for the scallops around the circle. I then used a white signo pen to put a dot on each scallop. The shapes on the circle were cut free hand out of the paper. I have to admit I didn't quite get the paper around the pole quite right, so that is why you see the scalloped papers at the bottom of the pole. I ran out of paper and had to make do. I am sure we all do this from time to time. Mistakes happen and you do your best to fix them. But all in all I think it fits my kitchen perfectly!

I hope you enjoy it, and that it inspires you to find different and unique uses for Clip it Up products!

Bobbi’s Last Day

Hi – This is Bobbi! After 3 1/2 years of working and playing at Simply Renee Inc, today is my final day. It’s been a great few years and I’ve been so blessed to have the chance to work with Renee and Carolyn. They are great woman and I admire their talents and creativity. I’ve watched Simply Renee grow from Renee’s basement into a warehouse and I’m proud to say I’ve been a part of it. One of my favorite tasks was blogging and working with our design teams and I am sad to say goodbye. I have learned so much from all of you!!! I love you all and wish you the best.

I’m not off to bigger and better things just different things and I hope to run into many of you along the way!

Hello Everyone,

Sarah here to share with you my scrapbook space and how I use my Clip it Up Main Base and Upper Tier. I am just thrilled with how much product the Clip it Up holds, and it definitely makes my life easier and much more stress free by keeping my products tidy, organized, and at the tips of my fingers. I use my Clip it Up to store stickers, alphas, embellishments, and die cuts from companies and manufacturers that I use most often. For me, I like to keep the company lines and collections together in one place, so that when I need to use the entire line it’s very easy to find all of the pieces that I’m looking for. Instead of keeping the buttons with my buttons, alphas with my alphas, chipboard and stickers with my chipboard and stickers, I keep the entire collection together on my Clip it Up, and it only takes a couple of seconds to grab all of the elements I need as opposed to gathering the items from all over my scrap room.

Great ways to use the Swinging Wall Arm & Pouty Granddaughter Layout!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! For today’s post I want to talk about the Clip It Up Swinging Wall Arm . These are handy little things to have around. I have found them to be perfect for holding the embellishments I receive in my Kit of the Month club. I don't like putting them with my other embellishments because I am afraid I won't remember which is which. The Clip It Up Swinging Wall Arm solved my problem. I now know where to go to find my kit of the month embellishments.

Another good idea for these is to use them for a temporary storing station of new product. If you are like me, you don't always have the time to put your new product where it belongs, or you might have to make room for the new product. By using a Clip It Up Swinging Wall Arm you won't have new product laying around cluttering up your room. In a matter of seconds you can clip your new product up and then when you find the time, put your new product where it belongs, thereby making room for your next purchase. These are pearls I recently purchased, and I am trying to decide on where I want their home to be.

Here is my layout:

I used various Jillibean papers that were donated. I added white cardstock and did quite a lot of punch work. Like my last post, I tried to make most of my embellishments out of the paper. I did add some white buttons and Thickers. The tiny flowers in the center of the blue flowers are made by Prima. The subject of my layout is my Granddaughter who was not too happy at that moment, but I think it makes an adorable photo. I hope you have enjoyed my ideas and layout.

Tina’s Craft Room Update

Good morning everyone! Tina here with a quick little CRAFT ROOM UPDATE!! If you have been following along, you know that I’m in the process (long process) of getting a craft space. If you are just joining us in this journey, you can check out the past post here.

Today I just want to show you where we are at. The room is officially done!! Floor down, lights up, painting done (except for a few touch ups) Check it out!!

I LOVE that flooring! And the lights are beautiful! Now comes the fun part! Adding my STASH!!

However, I am in the process of looking for cabinets… yes still! Hoping this next week I’ll be able to get something. It’s hard to find used cabinets that suit what I want! If we don’t find something soon, I’m going to have to get them made! But that’s a little harder on the wallet! LOL!

So, while I wait for cabinets,… I have grown impatient. So, my sweet Hubby moved in my old table and I have trucked some of my stuff up! I was getting SO tired of my dining room looking like a Scrapbooking store upchucked in it! ROFL! Seriously! It was getting bad! So here is the beginning of what will be MY SPACE! I have my Main Base set up with my Spellbinders die templates. I also have my Mini with lots of my smaller embellies and ribbons. And there is LOTS of “stuff” just hanging out for now.

Today I’m setting up my FLOOR MODEL!! THAT will get rid of lots of the stuff hanging around! I also have a Wall Mount, a 36” Ribbon Organizer and some other fabulous Clip-It-Up products too make this space as work friendly and organized as it can be!!

So tune in next time to see my temporary work station while I wait for the cabinets… I’ll check back in a week or so with my “temporary” pics…Then hopefully the next post will be my space in its full glory! WOHOO!! It’s getting close!

A Few Pages and Bad Habits…

We got to work with a fantastic stash of paper products from some of the best companies the past month and I wanted to share two layouts that I created.

Both of these are based on some Page Maps sketches by Becky Fleck.
This first page is about my 35th Birthday, and I got to play with some of the birthday line from Nikki Sivils and some papers from My Little Shoebox. One of my favorite elements was the “banner” that was actually upside down birthday hats! Too cute! (This also inspired another project that I am working on that you will see in the near future, too! )

This next page is also about a birthday…kind of. I made some “practice” cupcakes for Charlotte’s 2nd birthday, and she has really maybe only had 1 or 2 in her life, so I wanted to make sure she liked them! I used the cupcake line from My Little Yellow Bicycle. I can’t begin to tell you how many different embellishments and extras there are that coordinate with LYB lines….there is just so much to choose from!!!

So having all these great embellies also leads me to one of my bad habits. When I have used a product from my Clip It Up, or I have a new product that I haven’t hung yet, I have been just placing the packages on top of my Clip It Up! Bad, I know. So I am thinking about adding something to the top of my Clip It Up, like just a piece of decorated chipboard, so that I can decorate it and deter myself from piling up all my embellies. I am envisioning a cute little decorated cup or bowl to keep some clips in so that I can just reach in and grab a clip, add it to my product, and “Clip It Up”!

On a side note, remember that little video (click here) I shared with you of my scrap space about two months ago? Well Bye-bye scrap room….we are making a nursery for Baby #2 which will be here sometime in early August! J

I have set up shop in our large game room/family room upstairs. I purged a lot of stuff, but my organizational strategy is still pretty much the same. I feel great about my new space and it has allowed me to work in the same room with my little one as she plays and while hubby watches TV!

Thanks for reading my post today and next month I am going to use my stash on my Clip It Up for a layout, and ONLY things on my CIU…should be fun!

Spring Quilt Market 2011

The Spring Quilt Market was a huge hit. We didn’t have to travel far since it was held in our home state of Utah.

This year we were without Renee because she was in Hershey, PA for her son’s graduation from Medical School. Congrats Dr. Nathan Hull!!!!

Bobbi, Carolyn and Kathy did the show!!!! Since our products hold so much, we’re especially grateful for Riley Blake Designs, Lecien, Button Galore, Kati Cupcake, Izzy and Ivy Designs, Atkinson Designs, and The Fiber Goddess for sending products for us to display!!!! Setting up is always the hardest part, but the end result is always worth the effort. It takes 2 days to set up and 2 hours to take down :)

After Bobbi and Carolyn set most of the booth up, Kathy came in and worked her magic on the decorations. People loved our booth and said it had a steam punk feel to it. They loved all the junk with the fabric flowers in the mesh!!! Kathy’s quilt was a huge hit, she is amazing and so talented and we are so happy to have her helping us at the shows. She also did the Schoolhouse class on “Don’t Agonizes Organize” Thanks to all that came and to Kathy for doing a great job!!!!

Renee and Carolyn found the metal springs and other rusty old junk at Smith and Edwards after hours of digging. One of our many fun finds.

We always say we are going to be really good about taking pictures at the show but we get busy and forget. So here are the couple that we took. Yes, Bobbi and Carolyn did work but they also did a great job of avoiding pictures :)
