Hi there! It’s Tina here with my very first blog post for the Clip It Up Blog! I am SO honored to be here!!!
Upon receiving my Clip it Up Main Base and Upper Tier, I immediately dug into it and assembled it! It took me all of 3 minutes! Good thing, since I was in the middle of cooking dinner! LOL! It is so easy to put together! Fabulous! I soon was digging into my stash and clipping things up. I realized some things… some ideas and some brain waves, which I will be sharing in my coming blog posts! I will start by sharing a couple today!
First thing that hit me… I have a LOT of Prima products!
I adore them, but have a tendency to hoard them away! Then, the new releases come out and I buy more… Upon adding SOME of my Prima stash to my upper tier I realized that it is TIME to start using my flowers and my bling!! So I did! Here is the project that I created!
To create this page, I began by cutting a strip of Basic Grey’s patterned paper from the Capella line. Then I matted it in green paper from the same line, and used a lacy border punch to give it a romantic feel. Then I cut out a 6 inch circle from another pattern and distressed the edges. It was at this point that the clip it up saved the day!!! I was searching around for something and came across the Basic Grey’s Note’s that I had bought to go with this line! I had forgotten that I bought them! I wouldn’t have found them if I hadn’t put them right there in front of me! I would have found them about 2 months down the road when that paper was all gone! Awesome! So I layered the paper note card and the transparency over my circle!
Next I painted some Magistical Memories chipboard, covered the inside with the green paper and added some rub-ons for my title! Then came the fun of adding the Prima pearl swirls and flowers! Gorgeous!
I printed my journaling and cut into strips, adding it with my Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive runner. For a final touch, I added lots of liquid pearls throughout the page for dimension and interest.
Thanks for allowing me to share my work with you! Thanks to the clip it up, it’s another project for the albums! Here are the 2 things I want to share with you today…
1. The Clip It Up will help you to see how much of something you have and help you to use it, rather than hoard it!!
2. When you purchase a paper line and embellishments to go with it, hang the embellishments on the clip it up so that they are accessible when you use that paper line and you will not forget that you have it NOR will you say FORGET IT because you can’t find it!! J
Until Next time… Happy Scrapping!!

Hi, it’s Renee and I’m going to share a few things about me you may not know.
First of all, I’m not fancy! I’m more the “girl next door”. I love white shirts, one of a kind items and I have a quirky, funky side to me fighting to get out.
Me with 3 friends at Thanksgiving Point. Ingrid, Renee Diane, Shawna
I’ve been blessed with many incredible, wonderful friends!
I love my family of four energetic, active boys – ages 28-18 and my great husband. My oldest son is married to a wonderful wife and has three children.
My beautiful grandchildren are the best! They live to far away (while my son is in medical school) but I go see them a couple of times a year and we talk on SKYPE every week so they won’t forget me and I can see them growing up during the time I’m not there.
2 yrs old, 2 months, and 4yrs
Advice moment…
I’m a late bloomer - so all of you who think you’re too old to start something new, go for it. I came up with the idea of the Clip it Up when I was 49 and started the business at 50. So I’m not sure if that’s a mid-life crisis or not (I really don’t think I want to live to be 100). I can’t believe I just told everyone how “young” I am!
My creative BFF is Diane Schultz who is the owner, designer of Graphic 45. We met in Chicago a couple of years ago at her first show. We’ve bonded for life and could spend every day shopping for old treasures! We are so dangerous together! We love to go digging through “old, rusty, dirty things” for treasures, creating together, laughing and sharing ideas and projects. It’s been so good for me to have someone in the business so we can vent to one another.
Here’s Diane relaxing in my new craft room working on her new designs while I’m working on some fun projects for her booth for CHA Summer. We’ll post pictures of what I made after CHA starts! Don’t want to spoil the surprise!
I’m going to be an empty nester next month. Now don’t take this wrong – I LOVE my four boys, but I have been a very involved SAHM helping with soccer, football, paintball, cooking, cleaning, Student Gov’t (when my sons were officers for multiple years), PTA, girls, etc. I will miss them, but I’m thrilled to finally have the house alone with my husband again, less cooking and cleaning and hopefully getting to bed earlier! I can’t fall asleep until they come home so I start projects and then I stay up even later! I have friends who are going to be empty nesters and say, “What am I going to do with my kids gone?” and I’m saying, “I can’t believe I’m finally going to get to do all these fun projects I’ve put off!”
With everyone gone…I’m taking over one of the largest room in the house and making my “dream” creative room. It’s over the garage and this room has served a lot of purposes for our family, but now it’s going to serve the purpose of making me very happy and hopefully very creative! My husband jokes that I’ll never want to leave the room and he could be right! It’s a work in progress (hence the hanging electrical wire coming down from the ceiling) and I still have a long ways to go, but here’s a sneak peek. I promise we’ll post more when it’s done. Now for all of you that may be jealous of the size of the room – trust me, I’ve waited a LONG time and I feel I’ve earned it!
I love to alter jewelry, clothes, hats and whatever I can get my hands on. I could spend all day creating. Here’s a picture of one of the many corsage I made for my son’s date for a prom. For two years I’ve made his, and most of his friends corsages to match the dresses of the girls. I always disliked the flower ones, so I take antique jewelry and make more of a bracelet so they can use it again.
I’m into rusted metal. I love the search for fun unique pieces that I can make into something else. I love antiques (since I’m starting to become one myself!) I’m not into the fine fancy ones – I love the chippy shabby chic look. I could totally spend my time being a “picker”. In case you haven’t seen American Pickers you may not know what a picker is. It’s someone who goes around finding treasures looking through others junk. I love the workmanship of the old pieces because they took pride in their design and work.
I’m a Christmas person! Everything on the main floor of my house comes down and x-mas goes up. It is really organized and it only takes me two days (if I have a good helper). It’s a ton of work, but it makes me so happy especially when things get so crazy, it’s my place to retreat and remember what Christmas is all about! I love my home at x-mas! It’s hard to only pick a few pics since there is so much to see.
Not the best photos, but at least you can get a feel for it.
I re-did my garlands last year and I only do it when I have to because I have so many, but I thought they turned out fun!
Even the chandelier gets some x-mas cheer!
I love to take photos. My favorite ones are candid shots when people aren’t looking and action shots at Lake Powell.
I love the scrapbooking and quilting markets we go to because of all the fun, extremely nice and creative people. It makes all the hard work worthwhile!
I’ve loved working with two of my five sisters so I’ve included a couple of shots of our New York Trip to the National Stationery Show where the Ribbon Organizer won Best New Product Award. We stayed a few extra days and saw the sights, went to plays, laughed and enjoyed ourselves!
Me, Dianna and Carolyn
Our family has been going to Lake Powell for 24 years and we love it. If you don’t know where or about Lake Powell, you should find out! It is beautiful, relaxing, and a slice of heaven on earth. You can’t believe the beautiful narrow canyons that just keep going and going.
This picture is at sunrise from our last trip. The houseboat makes roughing it just my style! Isn’t it a beautiful spot to park?
We had a great sandy beach with shade in the afternoon for horse shoes, going down the slide and playing in the water.
We wakeboard, Sky-Ski (even I do it) and have a great time as a family with our friends! This is one of the guys from our trip doing a jump on the Sky Ski. I wish I could say it’s me who can jump that high, but I’m afraid of heights! Good excuse huh! Plus, who would take the pictures that make them look so good!
Well, thanks for letting me share some of my personal life with you! Nothing too exciting! I’m happy with the many gifts, talents, friends, God and family that bless my life. I’m truly grateful for all I have!
Please leave a comment on what you love to do with your favorite best friend, your favorite holiday that you decorate for, or your favorite vacation spot with your family, or all of the above!
We will be drawing a lucky winner on Monday July 26 from those who comment for a free Swinging Wall Arm, Under the Shelf Rod and a Wall Mount! I love these products because they can be used in so many ways and in so many different rooms in your home.
Good luck and I look forward to reading your comments!
Renee

For summer fun we love to go camping! And I try to squeeze in some scrapbooking. Usually I only have time to organize over the summer. So the upper tier would be awesome to win!!
Thanks for everyone’s comments! Check back next week for a new chance to win a Clip it Up product.
Happy Friday!
Hi, it's Rhonda and I'm so excited to share with you my first project post as part of the new Simply Renee Design Team!
My project is all about upcycling which is very much on trend today. I finished up this chai latte mix last week and could not bear to part with this cute container! Perhaps it is the feel of nostalgia, but I just loved how sturdy it is and overall, the cuteness factor won me over. Am I alone here?
One of my crafty commitments in 2010 is to try to journal more often and meaningfully. I decided that I wanted to alter my little container to become a new 'home' for my journaling pens. I really need to have my pens organized in a single place of honor in my studio.
Here is my 'before' photo so you can see where I started:
Here is what it looks like now... Penny for Your Thoughts...
I couldn't resist the sentiment and I found a wheat penny. I added just a touch of liquid pearls to it to soften it which created just the feel that I wanted. You will notice that I didn't just stop with the container! I had to create just a little more eye candy for my desk. Here are the extra details including the fun little hat that I made by flipping over that little lid:
To create the ruffled paper ribbon on the bottom, I set my sewing machine stitch length to long and stitched in the middle of the double scallop punched trim. I then got the paper slightly damp and gathered it to create paper "ribbon". To disguise my stitching I applied some trim over the top.
[ Here are my little creations in action at my desk next to my Clip-It-Up Mini. I just love how perfectly the Mini works for storing my bling and embellishment collections. It's just the perfect size to help organize your array of embellishment goodies. ]
I hope that you take a look at some of the things that you recycle from time to time and see how you can re-purpose or upcycle to help you organize your craft space. Please share your fun projects, I would love to see them!
Thank you so much for stopping on over today, have a super fabulous rest of your day!
Hi, my name is Rhonda Van Ginkel, and I live in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. I am blessed to be the mom of two beautiful little boys, 2.5 years and 16 months. I've been married to my husband Chuck for four years. I work in technology during the day. We enjoy living in a nice suburb with our two dogs, our home is very lively!
I was bit hard by the scrapbooking bug in April of 2009. I have always been an artistic person, drawing, loving photography, sewing, writing and basically anything that is hands on. My fascination with scrapbooking exploded after going to a small crop one night with my friend. That night was a catalyst in my life that I could never have imagined. Not only did I get photos organized, but I saw something that I wanted deeply for my children that I did not have... a family story. A story that would tell itself through time, the fun, the not so fun and the really awesome times too! In between scrapbooking projects, I adore making cards! I find that for me, its a perfect transition and a great way to use your scraps!
I love taking lots of photographs of Chuck and the kids with my new Canon Rebel. Chuck is as big of a kid as they are - and I get a lot of fun filled action shots! Other passions of mine are reading, socializing, playing with my kids, biking and rollerblading if I get the opportunity!

I have worked for Simply Renee since the company started. I worked part time and started full time this January. I love my job!!!! Originally I got to go to all the fun shows, travel and meet a lot of amazing people. Now I get to work with Renee and Bobbi in making our company grow. I'm so proud of Renee and all that she has accomplished. We have had lots of fun working together and we have lots of crazy memories. Also I'm lucky to be Renee's little sister.
National Stationery Show in New York 2009
I'm a single mom with two/three amazing kids, Brooke who is 20 and going to University of Utah with (Jake my other kid/her boyfriend). Mitch is 16 and a junior in High School. They keep me busy and young at heart.
Here are some of my favorite things:
My kids of course!!!!!! I love running/walking (especially hills) with my best friends while solving all the worlds problems and hiking (Utah has some of the most amazing trails).
I love summer and being outside: swimming, boating, baseball games and just soaking up the sun. I recently found that I love being on the back of a chopper especially with a handsome guy ;-)
I could eat Mexican food and Dr. Pepper for every meal. I’ve tried to stop drinking my diet Dr Pepper but gave up - why should I stop something that I love and makes me happy. Life is too short to grow up and be serious so I laugh and play everyday.
Of course I love all of our Clip it up products but my favorite is the original Main Base and Upper Tier. I have all my jewelry on it.
Happy Birthday Clip it up!!!!
This week’s drawing is for the Upper Tier. To enter add a comment to this post about one of your favorite things to do in the summer. Make sure you include your name and check back on July 16 to see who won the drawing.

Good Day everyone! It's now my turn to give a tour around my craft area. Pardon me but there isn't really much to see :) My craft area is a little cramp and sometimes i do fantasize about a white, spacious, huge area to walk into and craft! I make use of our study room and play with my supplies in front of my old faithful PC. It is always a habit to clean up after each paper therapy. Order keeps me sane !
Lots of my embellishments are stored away in clear jars and i love to utilize and re-purpose items around the house. Here, i re-purposed a muffin tin, gesso-ed and converted into a table top storage. I love to see what I have lying around ... Out of sight- Out of mind really describes me when it comes to my craft supplies !
Which means I cannot live without my Clip It Up ! LOVE it to pieces and it is so functional and makes a scrapper like me so happy ! I Love how i can see what i have ...
and the piano-top is another great place to make use...
This will be my final post as a design team member for Simply Renee... Thank you so much for having me and CONGRATULATIONS to the new team members :)
It has been an absolutely wonderful 6 months since I joined the Simply Renee DT with the rest of the talented girls, enjoying every moment of my time here. As this is going to be my last post, I would love to thank Renee and Bobbi for their wonderful support throughout the months and I would assure the new girls that you will love working with them! :)
Today I'm going to show you what I did with a mirror frame which I got recently from Ikea. It's a very pretty mirror which sits perfectly on my scrap table but I feel it will look even better if I alter it.
To alter this mirror frame, I chose lots of Prima products to work on it. I started altering the frame by tying the Holiday Lights Glitter Spray branch to two corners of the frame as shown below.
As you can see from the close up picture, I secured the branch with gold colored thin wire to the metal frame, just to make sure it doesnn't fall off easily. Glue dots may not work properly as the branch weighs heavier than many of the other embellishment.
Once the branch is secured, I started working from the top of the frame and added more Prima embellishments such as flowers, leaves, pearls and crystals and stamped paper. All of these embellishments are secured using lots of glue dots.
Next, I worked on the bottom frame using the same type of embellishments.
And here is my completed mirror frame and I simply love how it turned out after altering it with lots of yummy goodies from Prima! :)
I hope you enjoyed what I created here and this altered frame idea can be done on other things like shadow box, picture frame, candle holders, gift box etc.
Please do come back here often as the new girls will be sharing lots of their wonderful projects in the months to come.
Have a great week ahead!
Hugs,
