Scenery Cards

Creating a scenery background on a card can be very fun and can be done without any pattern paper at all when using these Mint Motif stamps!

Gather your supplies and have fun by playing around with what you have.  I gather my supplies and end up trying different things until I get what I want.  Doesn’t always end up how I intended it to in the first place and that’s what makes the creative process so enjoyable.

1)      Begin by stamping four Very Square background stamps together in a block (two on top and two on bottom.) 

2)  To create the ‘hill,’ stamp four more Very Square background stamps in a different pattern but the same way.  Cut the shape to your preference.

3)  After stamping cloud background stamp, use a die template (I used Spellbinders™ Labels Six) to cut and emboss cloud. 

4)  Using different colors of ink and patterns, cut and emboss sun and flowers.  Adhere to card using pop dots.

5)  Tie jute in a small bow at base of card.

6)      Stamp sentiment on to Label die template and adhere.

CK Clip it Up Winner

Happy Monday everyone!!!

It’s a rainy day here in Utah and coming to work was difficult.  However when I checked my emails I was excited to receive pictures from Susan Berry.  Susan won a Clip it Up Ribbon Organizer from Club CK.  She was at first nervous about finding a place to put the Ribbon Organizer but once she found the perfect spot she loves it :-)

Flowers for Mom

Are you ready for Mothers' Day? If you've waited until the last minute and haven't yet made your mom that special card, I've got an idea for a quick card that will look like it took hours. Aren't those the best kind?!

Giving flowers as a Mothers' Day gift is pretty traditional, but even if you've got a more modern gift in mind, you can still give mom flowers. I made the flowers on this card using a staple from my pantry: coffee filters.

If you've never attempted coffee filter flowers, they're really easy. All you need are coffee filters, some mist or ink (if you want colored flowers) and some patterned paper for the stem. If you have a heat gun, it will speed the drying process, but it's not absolutely necessary.

First, take a filter, fold it in half and mist or paint it. I use a cardboard box to catch the "overspray." I used Glimmer Mist in Starfish, but any mist would work, and you could even use ink or chalk instead.

Use the heat gun to dry the filter or let it air dry over night. (You could also use a hairdryer if you don't have a heat gun.) Then, fold it in half again.

Next, start pleating the filter to get the look of a flower.

Cut a strip of patterned paper and wrap it around the base of the flower in a funnel shape and adhere the edges.

Add a stem and some leaves and you have a lovely embellishment for a card or any other project. It makes a great card for any occasion: birthdays, thank you, get well, etc. It would also look great on a gift bag.

Wedding bells are in the air!!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that our fabulous Bobbi who keeps us all on track…just got engaged.  Love is in the air and Bobbi is on cloud 9 (except for finals are putting a bit of a damper on it).

We’re soooo excited for you!  So far the date is in September sometime…for those who may be wondering.
