Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American friends!! Here in Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October… but I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
Today I have a project to share with you! While I had planned on doing a “Thankful” themed project, something happened in my life that I just had to document. That is what I have decided to share with you today.
On June 1st a little boy was born… he was adopted by two amazingly loving and caring parents. When he was 3 days old, he was airlifted to a children’s hospital where he spent the next 5 months and 13 days. It was there that this little boy took his last breath. Though I never had the opportunity to meet this little boy, he impacted my life. This is the project that I chose to share with you today.
I do not share this project with you to make you sad. It actually has helped me to be so much more thankful. Thankful for my 5 children. Thankful for our health. Thankful for the time that I have with them. Thankful for the opportunity to be involved in this little boy’s life by praying daily for him. Life is a journey full of ups and downs. I choose to be thankful for them all, for it is the ups AND the downs that make us who we are.
Whoo… deep stuff!! J
Now, on to some organizing tips, whadda ya say? J
First thing I want to share with you is how I keep my packages of pearls and gems.
I use a binder ring and add MANY packages of pearls to it. Then I attach the ring to my Clip it Up Upper Tier! When I want to use the pearls, I can then take the entire large ring off and take it to the table rather than have to take off each individual package I want to use! I have LOTS of these little packages… and it would take up an entire tier! Maybe I need a Mini for them? Hmmm… ;)
Second tip for you is regarding trims. I know some people have TONS of trims and ribbons. I do not. I don’t have enough to get me one of those gorgeous ribbon organizers! So, I have a ribbon issue… Here’s what I came up with!
I use the divider tabs for ribbon storage! I trim the sides down as shown below, and wrap my ribbon around!
I sometimes use a dot of removable adhesive to stick the trim to the base. Then I use a pin to keep it together after I wrap it! Perfect for my favorite trims that I want to keep right there with me!
Thank you for sticking with me thru this post! I wish you a HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Until next time…. Happy Organizing!
Supplies:
Patterned paper and embellishments: Pink Paislee, Alpha’s: American Crafts, Flowers and butterfly: Prima, Chipboard: Magistical Memories, Technique Tuesday, Pearls; Basic Grey, Doily; Dollarama, Chipboard hearts: Doodlebug, pins; Maya Road, Stamp: Inkadinkadoo
That is such a sad story, But yes it does make one more thankful for what they do have! I am very thankful for my Husband and everything he does for us! The LO you made is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea to use the binder rings to keep the small things together to take up less space! I will have to do that, I have lots of the rings!

Thank you for sharing your story. I am so grateful that, although both of my kids were born with health issues, they are now pretty healthy, wonderful kids.
ReplyDeleteLove your binder clip idea. Brilliant.
Shew . . . what a sweet layout! Thanks for reminding me of yet another reason to be grateful this holiday. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE both of your storage tips. I use those binder rings for TONS of stuff, but never thought to use them on the clip it up. I will now. And I REALLY love your ribbon tabs. PERFECT!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Such a sweet story and really does make your remember what it is we have to be thankful for ALL year.
ReplyDeleteI also store my bling and other small pkgs on the binder rings. Saves a ton of clips and allows me to store a ton of product in a small space.
LOVE my mini !
Thank you for sharing this beautiful layout and story.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the organizational tips. :) TFS

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet layout and yes makes us think of all of our blessings!
ReplyDeleteI love your ideas and will be using the binder clip idea. I just got my clip it up yesterday and can't wait to get it all set up.
Stories like that break my heart. I do forget to be grateful for everyday with my healthy kids. I am thankful to brave, strong families like that who share their stories to remind me to be thankful and not take an moment for granted.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special Share, this is why we do whatwe do. This is a special time of year. I just love the segment how to's with the clip it up.
ReplyDeleteThe designers have very good ideas. Bless you for sharing this heartfelt story to all it's really an unknown certainity life. Cherish all your loved ones.. Remember we are not here for that long of time. God bless our Soldiers, God bless the families that endure the tragic sickness for their children, parents. I'm pretty sentimental on this post it just really shows you how lucky some ofare and so blessed.
May the Holiday Season you do that something extra for someone could be a total stranger , open a door if you see them struggling , volunteer Well I shouldn't be leaving a story.
Good Bless this whole world
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful blessing you had. Sometimes we need to hear things like this to remember just how blessed we are. This time of year is always such a trying time for me. May GOD bless you and your family this coming year with many wonderful memories and fun times. Beautiful layout!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful page, with such emotion. A great reminder to be thankful for our own healthy children.
ReplyDeleteWonderful organization ideas as well.
I say prayers with my kids each night and one thing we always do is pray for those sick in our lives and thank god for our health, my kids are only 4 & 6, but they KNOW how lucky they are. We Prayed hard this last year for the family that lost their son Noah at age that lived here in the Detroit area, my daughter was the same age. She said she couldn't imagine going to see the angels, so I told her neither could I and that we needed to pray not only for him, but for his family, like his mom and dad that will miss him dearly. All he wanted for his last xmas was xmas cards. I pre-postages over 20 letters once I heard this and I handed them out to whoever I saw that I thought could help the boy, I passed one around at work, gave one to the daycare staff, one to the post office lady to pass around, friends, strangers, I think the story was worth the cause. Thanks for reminding me of this story, and why again I'm so thankful.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of using binder rings... AWESOME. So simple and easy to do. I love it. I've been begging hubby to get me a clip it up for Christmas and I think the binder rings give me yet another reason to have one! Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteAlso, on another note, your nack for organization is amazing. I love being organized. Friends think I am a little OCD, I just think its smart planning and it makes sense. I'm glad I'm not the only one out there with the love of organizing!
That layout is beautiful, and while it makes me so sad, it also does make me very appreciative of all of the blessings that I have in my life.
ReplyDeleteI am addicted to those binder clips, and I use them all the time! It never occured to me to use them on my Clip It Up, but I will totally be borrowing that idea! I also love the way you organized your ribbon! Awesome and VERY clever!
What a beautiful share
ReplyDeleteOh this touched my heart!
ReplyDeleteI had a similiar idea for storing my ribbon, but I hadn't come up with the perfect solution. You did, however, with the divider tabs. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your organization tips!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet little soul, thank you for sharing part of his story with us!
