Hello friends! Natasha here and welcome to the third day of the amazing Simply Renee Giveaway! Today I'd like to share my first 8.5x11 layout! I was a little nervous about reducing the size of my layout, but I wanted to give it a try. It's amazing how a simple change in size can result in a totally different creative experience. :o)
I created the large flower by using canvas layers. Each layer was painted with a mixture of Helmar Fabric Stiffener & Draping Fluid and Mix'd Media Inx in Peridot. After applying the mixture, I gently shaped and curled each petal to form a natural-looking flower.
The small kraft flowers were made using the new Bitty Blossom Dies by Spellbinders. They were cut from the Kraft Paper in Donna Salazar's new Mix'd Media Stax.
The title chipboard is made by The Dusty Attic. I added texture by embossing it using Mix'd Media Embossing Powder in Peridot. The 'Finesse Swirls' bling is made by Want2Scrap.
The bottom layer of the background is corrugated board that was distressed with paint, ink, embossing powder and a Zutter Distrezz-it-All. On top of the corrugated board, I added a layer of watercolor paper from the Mix'd Media Stax. I spritzed Smooch Spritz to add some color and created bricks from fiber paste to add texture.
The photo is matted with (reversed) Kraft label. I peeled off the backing and applied Fairy Dust Glitter to the sticky surface.
Not only is this a layout, it's a wall hanging! I laced tulle through eyelets set in the top corners so that I can display my layout on a wall.
Thank you for taking a peek at my layout!
Yesterday, Carolyn asked which is your favorite Oreo. Mine is the original! Yum yum!!

Communicating without a phone?? I guess in today's world it would be through computer...email. If we didn't have that it would have to be a letter. The phone just makes life so easy you don't have to think about how to communicate. It would definitely take more effort.
ReplyDeleteWell believe it or not I still like to write letters! So I would communicate by writing. All my carrier pigeons flew away...lol
ReplyDeleteNatasha your layout is another stunning piece...glad you love my comments.
hugs
I would go and find the person. :)
ReplyDeleteEmail is the way to go .... you can open and read/reply whenever
ReplyDeleteI don't have a mobile phone--just a regular one. I don't love talking on the phone. I would probably use email or snail mail!
ReplyDeleteI started out by doing 8.5 x 11 page layouts just before my son was born and he will be 10 the end of the month....I was nervous to go to a 12 x 12 page after doing his first 4 almost 5 years of his life on smaller pages but it was easy after the first few pages. Once I went bigger I have never looked back!!!! Good job, love the layout and the colors!
ReplyDeleteI would use my email or Facebook if I didnt have a phone.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't have my phone, I'd communicate via emails or letters...
ReplyDeleteNatalie
Great website full of great ideas! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAh
Well I would send a card that I made in my very organized craftroom thanks to CLIP IT UP!!
ReplyDeleteNatasha,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your talents with everyone!!! You are simply amazing. We are so lucky to have you as our designer:)
Carolyn
I'd miss my daily lunchtime call from my hubby if we didn't have a phone! But e-mail would be second best. Or maybe send a card?
ReplyDeleteThat layout is gorgeous! I really don't like to talk on phones anyway, I wish we had texting back when I was a teenager! I would communicate by computer or letter!
ReplyDeleteI'm a tad bit ashamed to say this, but Facebook has taken the place of my phone quite a while ago! It's really shameful that i barely call any of my friends and family anymore, even on birthdays. Seems like a post on a wall is good enough now. I was never a huge phone girl, but i kinda wish that i heard it ring a bit more often... :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Natasha, your layout is EXCELLENT like everything you create. WOW! Always such an inspiration!
Gorgeous layout, Natasha! I'm not much of a phone person, well not as much as some of my friends anyway. I would go back to the old days of writing letters if I did not have my phone! It's sad to see that so many teens and even some adults have forgotten how to actually write in English as opposed to "text message" language!
ReplyDeleteEmail would be my way of communicating without my phone. Crazy how much we rely on our phones these days! :)
ReplyDeleteI would use letters to communicate. I love to write and still do, occasionally! BTW Love the LO!
ReplyDeleteLove the layout!! If I did't have a phone the old fashion letter writing way.. I remember the anticipation of waiting for an answer... Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't have email, I'd use regular old snail mail. If it was something that was urgent and I was geographically close enough, I'd make the trip so I could communicate face-to-face.
ReplyDeleteYour layout is stunning! --- communicate without my phone... oh yikes, I really wouldn't want to but I would send out made with love one of a kind cards to keep in touch. : )
ReplyDeleteThe layout so pretty! If I didn't have my phone, I would just write letters!
ReplyDeleteI would use email!
ReplyDeleteI can't live without my phone now. OR my iPad! Mostly I talk to family during the day.
ReplyDeletego and see them or write them a letter.
ReplyDeleteEmail or Skype. It is awful how much we rely on technology. If I lost my phone I would be lost.
ReplyDeleteI would use email on the computer -- since you only mentioned telephone
ReplyDeleteI would use regular mail and email. Or even actually pay a visit to the person if possible. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your project. Absolutely beautiful!!
Without a phone I would communicate via the computer and social networks. Without the computer a letter would be the best form of distance communication. A face to face visit would be best for local communication.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't have a phone, I'd likely use email.
