I was 6 or 7 when I got my first Barbie.
ReplyDeleteI was very young. I dod not remember the age. We have pictures and my mom made some Barbie clothes
ReplyDeleteI think I was 6 or so from there my obsession grew. I had barbies galore. But my most special memories would be years later, pulling out my tote full of barbie goodness and passing it down to my daughter! She loved anything barbie! Now my stuff along with hers is lovingly packed away for when she has a daughter! Thanks for the great giveaway, I could really use this, we just relocated and are in a much smaller home, I am struggling with organization! Happy Birthday Barbie!
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think I ever owned a Barbie....just played with them at my friends' houses.
ReplyDeleteI had tons of Barbies and when my sisters got old enough to play with them we had every Barbie under the sun. My aunt had poodle skirts and big SoutherBelle style dresses made for us all one Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOK seriously, Barbie and I could be twins!!! hahaha! We were born in the same year! Close enough, right! Love you guys! Teri
ReplyDeleteI had a ton of Barbies and accessories. A funny story that many people in my family laugh about is that one day while I was at school my little cousin took my Barbie camper outside and forget to bring it back. Well, I was furious when I got home because I loved that camper! It was found a day or so later...basically stripped like a real car... a tire missing, doors broken, trunk open, etc. And oh my goodness I will never let my little cousin forget how he ruined my Barbie camper- LOl! They always tease me about being an only child and being unable to share, so this story sends everyone into hysterical laughter when we talk about it!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember when I got my first Barbie but I can remember getting my favorite Barbie, Skipper, for Christmas one year.
ReplyDeletemy cousin and i would sit under a tree in the yard and play Barbie's.. we had a blow up Barbie pool and the furniture..we had so much fun playing, changing Barbie's swimsuits and letting them swim in the pool. i believe we were around ten years old and Barbie was all that to us. we played for hours...GREAT TIMES
ReplyDeleteBarbies were by far my favorite toys when i was a child... and up until i was, i dare say, 13-14. I remember my best friend and i used to hide ourselves in my bedroom to play barbies when we were 13, but never daring to admit to our other friends that we still enjoyed playing with Barbies. It's funny because i often hear Barbie getting a bad rap about not being a good role model for young girls today because of the emphasis on her looks. Well, i have always been a heavyset girl, and i can honestly say that playing with Barbies has not been a factor at all in whatever low self-image i might have had sometimes while growing up. Society, though, had a huge role to play. As a famous crying YouTuber would say "LEAVE BARBIE ALONE!!!" hehehe (If you don't know what the heck i'm talking about, you probably don't spend as much time as i do watching random YouTube videos which is a good thing! ha!)
ReplyDeleteI got my first baby when I was around four years old. (She was one of those stiff legged ones - lol!) My aunt make clothes for her and how I wish I still had them all.
ReplyDeleteI got my first barbie in the 60's- I still have her, she never looked better..lol
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a big doll girl but she was special and made it through the years. I always wanted a skipper.
I was around 5 I think, it was the year my brother was born, so I remember it. It was a Hawaiian Barbie, I can't remember her name. Anyway, my dad had made a bunch of furniture to go with it and I was so excited. Good memories!
ReplyDeleteThe All In One is awesome, btw!
I am not that old, but I can't remember when I got my first Barbie. I know I was young and I loved playing with them. I have a bad memory!!
ReplyDeleteIn addition to my own (newer) Barbies, I also had some of my mom's-- including a Skipper. I loved her little red romper outfit. My mom also had some tiny Barbie clothes catalogs that I just loved to look through!

I don't remember when I got my first Barbie because I have an older sister, and I'm sure she had them before I came along. But, we had TONS of Barbies and kept them in old suitcases. We had at least 3-4 HUGE suitcases full of them. I had a desk with a built-in shelving unit on the top, and I always cleared it all off and made that my 3-story Barbie "house." LOL I would set up each shelf as a different "floor" in the house...first floor was living room, 2nd floor was kitchen, 3rd floor was bedroom, etc. We got creative and used gallon-sized Ziploc bags filled with water as our "water bed." LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove all your comments:) Brings back lots of memories:)

I think I got my first Barbie when I was 7. LOVED making dresses for her out of socks. Haha.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Barbie was the classic Blonde and my fondest memory was when my Dad drove me to Toy's R' Us to buy the Barbie Bus! I think I was about eight and I loved it.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember when I had my first Barbie, but I had a ton of them! :) One of my favorites was actually the Ken doll that I had.. you could wet his hair and change the color of it!
ReplyDeleteMy fave barbie was probably I think it was called Superstar Barbie...she had a long pink slim gown and fab jewellery!
ReplyDeleteMe, didn't have any barbie at all because I didn;t like so much barbie.... sorry....
ReplyDeleteI had off brand dolls, lol, and I was about 6 or 7, but my favorite at my grandma's house was skipper....so not really barbie (I shared barbies with cousins at grandmas :)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember exactly how old I was when I got my first Barbie but I loved playing with them. My neighbor had a really awesome doll house that her dad had built and we used to play together all the time. So many good memories.
ReplyDeleteI think I must have been about 9 when I got my Barbie. I wasn't much on playing with dolls so I didn't care if I got another one.
ReplyDeleteI don't know when I got my 1st Barbie but I do remember that I never got to have very many Barbies. My mom didn't think it was necessary. Times sure have changed!
