Halloween Countdown

Fall is my favorite time of year. I think it's the combination of cool breezes, fresh baked pies, apples, changing colors, back to school, football and Halloween. I always decorate my house so early that quiet a few people pick on me for it, but I just can't wait! I was decorating the house this Labor Day weekend and decided I need to have a Halloween countdown like we have do for Christmas! I love holiday's where the kids get excited and Halloween is one of our favorites. We really do need something to count down to the most fun holiday of the year!

For this project I used a black picture frame with 8-4"x6" openings and removed the glass. I cut out 8-4"x6" pieces of patterned paper and added a few embellishments. Then I cut out 31 small pieces (1 3/4" x 1 1/8") of patterned paper to use as the pockets. On those pieces I added some random rub-on numbers for the countdown days and inked the edges with black ink. To attach the pockets to the paper I added a thin line of adhesive along the sides and bottom of the back side of the paper, then I put them on the patterned paper and stuck a popsicle stick in the top half to form the pocket. After all the pockets were attached I cut the popsicle stick down to about 2" and painted it black then added a cute ghost to the top of the stick as our marker for counting down the days. To finish it off I added a couple more embellishments to the paper and to the frame.
